The Non-Intimidating Writing Workshop
The Non-Intimidating Writing Workshop (working title until we come up with a cooler sounding name).
Barbara Barrows and Michelle Saltouros will be leading an online workshop Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 pm (CST). This workshop is for beginning writers, blocked writers, bored writers, people who need to write but not sure how to start, and people who just want to have fun writing. It is based on the universal themes' style of workshop which is adaptable to several different writing styles including poetry, spoken word, fiction, memoir, and nonfiction. Universal themes simply mean that the theme of the workshop is relevant to each participant. You are the expert of your own life experience and that is what these workshops draw on in fun, engaging, and thought-provoking ways.
This format is adapted from Speak Your Truth creative writing curriculum developed by Teen Writers and Artists Project (TWAAP), which in turn is based on Young Chicago Authors (YCA)/Louder Than a Bomb curriculum and method.
Both Barbara and Michelle have completed the TWAAP Teaching Artist Training, have participated, led, and been the featured artists in the monthly TWAAP WordPlay workshops.
Right now, we are limiting the workshop attendance to seven participants in order to make sure everyone has the opportunity to share and be heard. We will gladly open more workshops as this one fills up or if this time does not work for you.
